Join Rosie, owner of Ceramics in the Annexe, for a relaxed, hands-on festive pottery workshop hosted at Petal & Stalk's Flower School in Navenby.
This cosy 2.5-hours session is perfect for complete beginners and offers the chance to get creative in a welcoming, small-group setting. Choose your festive pottery project when booking your ticket from the selection available.
The workshop begins with a demonstration, followed by plenty of time for you to shape, add detail and decorate your chosen project using a variety of pottery tools and underglazes. You'll be guided through every step, so no previous pottery experience is needed.
All materials and tools are provided, along with nibbles and refreshments to enjoy during the class.
Once you've finished creating your piece, your project will remain at the studio to dry before being glazed and twice fired. This process makes your finished piece strong and durable enough for everyday use.
Your completed pottery will be ready for collection approximately 4-6 weeks after the workshop and just in time for Christmas. Collection is available from Petal & Stalk, or your piece can be posted to you for an additional fee.
CHOOSING YOUR PROJECT
There will be a selection of festive pottery projects to choose from, with each project shown when booking your ticket. Please select your chosen project when purchasing your ticket, as your project needs to be confirmed in advance of the workshop. Each project has a maximum of 3 spaces available. If you're booking as a group of more than three and would like everyone to make the same project, please drop me an email at ceramicsintheannexe@gmail.com before booking, and I'll do my best to accommodate your request.
Similarly, if your preferred project is sold out but you'd still like to book. Please send me an email, and I'll be happy to see if I can accommodate you.

WHAT TO BRING
The workshop space can be a little chilly, so I recommend bringing a warm layer.
Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little clay on. Don't worry too much, as clay washes out easily!
COLLECTION & FIRING:
Your pottery will remain at the studio after the workshop to dry, glaze and be twice fired.
Pieces will be ready approximately 4-6 weeks after the workshop and can be collected from Petal & Stalk. Alternatively, postage is available for an additional fee.
Please be aware that clay is a natural material and can occasionally crack or break during the process. Every care will be taken with your piece, but this risk is part of working with clay.
ACCESSIBILITY:
The workshop is on the ground floor, with a slight ramp down on entry. If you have any specific accessibility requirements or other special requirements, please get in touch in advance so we can do our best to accommodate you.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Tickets are non-refundable.
Rescheduling is possible up to 72 hours before the workshop.
If I have to cancel the workshop, you will receive a full refund.
How it's made
How it's made
All of our ceramics are handmade in our pottery studio in Lincolnshire, UK. Each piece is created in small batches of around 20 and carefully formed over a two-day period.
Once shaped, the pieces are left to dry slowly for about a week before their first firing in the kiln at 1000°C. This firing removes any remaining moisture from the clay and permanently transforms it into ceramic.
After the first firing, each piece is glazed by hand. Depending on the design, glazes are either brushed on or the piece is dipped to achieve the desired finish. The ceramics are then fired a second time, reaching temperatures between 1220 - 1240°C.
From start to finish, a single piece can take up to four weeks to complete — a slow-made process that allows time and care at every stage.
